Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) Weight Loss Injections at Neil’s Pharmacy

Pharmacist-Led Private Weight Management in Prescot

At Neil’s Pharmacy, we provide Mounjaro® (tirzepatide) as part of our private, pharmacist-led weight-management clinic. This service is designed for adults who are struggling to achieve meaningful weight loss through diet and lifestyle changes alone and would benefit from additional medical support.

Mounjaro is prescribed only after a full consultation with a Pharmacist Independent Prescriber, ensuring treatment is safe, clinically appropriate, and tailored to your individual health needs.

You can find full details of our approach on our
👉 Weight Loss Service page.

What Is Mounjaro (Tirzepatide)?

Mounjaro® contains tirzepatide, an injectable medication that acts on two hormones involved in appetite regulation and metabolism:
GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) and GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide).

By working on both pathways, Mounjaro can help reduce appetite, increase feelings of fullness, and support healthier eating patterns when used as part of a structured weight-management programme.

How Does Mounjaro Work?

Mounjaro supports weight loss through several complementary effects:

• Reduces appetite, helping to limit constant hunger
• Increases satiety, supporting smaller portion sizes
• Slows digestion, helping you feel fuller for longer
• Improves insulin sensitivity, supporting blood sugar regulation

These effects can make it easier to maintain a calorie-controlled diet and adopt sustainable lifestyle changes.

Who Is Mounjaro Suitable For

Mounjaro may be suitable for adults who:

• Have a BMI of 30 or above (obesity), or
• Have a BMI of 27 or above (overweight) with at least one weight-related health condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or type 2 diabetes

All patients are assessed individually. A prescription is only issued where treatment is considered clinically appropriate following a consultation with our Pharmacist Independent Prescriber.

When Mounjaro May Not Be Suitable

Mounjaro may not be appropriate if you:

• Are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Have a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer
• Have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN2)
• Have severe gastrointestinal disease
• Have a known allergy to tirzepatide

Your full medical history and current medications will be reviewed during your consultation.

Dosage and How Mounjaro Is Taken

Mounjaro is administered as a once-weekly subcutaneous injection. Patients are shown how to self-inject safely and confidently.

Typical dosing approach (subject to clinical suitability):

• Starting dose: 2.5mg once weekly
• Dose increases: May be increased gradually to higher strengths if appropriate and well tolerated

Not all patients will require dose increases. Your prescriber will determine the most suitable dose based on response, tolerability, and overall progress.

Mounjaro should always be used alongside:

• Regular physical activity (aiming for at least 150 minutes per week)
• Ongoing clinical review and support

Medication can support weight loss, but long-term success depends on maintaining healthy habits.

Exploring Alternative Weight Loss Treatments?

Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is one option available through our private weight-management clinic. Some patients may instead be suitable for Wegovy® (semaglutide), another licensed weight-loss injection that works via a different mechanism.

Your pharmacist will discuss all appropriate options with you and recommend the most suitable treatment based on your individual needs.
