What Is Mounjaro® (Tirzepatide)?
Mounjaro® contains tirzepatide, an injectable medicine that works on two key hormone pathways involved in appetite and metabolism:
- GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1)
- GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide)
By acting on both pathways, Mounjaro can help regulate appetite, increase feelings of fullness, and support healthier eating behaviours when used as part of a structured weight-management programme.
How Does Mounjaro® Work?
Mounjaro may support weight loss through several mechanisms:
🍽️ Reducing appetite and food cravings
✅ Increasing satiety (feeling full)
⏳ Slowing gastric emptying
🩸 Supporting blood sugar regulation and insulin sensitivity
These combined effects can help support a calorie-controlled diet and more sustainable lifestyle changes.
Who Is Mounjaro® Suitable For?
Mounjaro may be suitable for adults who:
⚖️ Have a BMI of 30 or above (obesity)
🫀 Have a BMI of 27 or above (overweight) with a weight-related health condition
🩺 All patients are assessed individually. A prescription is issued only where treatment is clinically appropriate following consultation with our Pharmacist Independent Prescriber.
